History

The hotel was originally two Georgian town houses owned by the inventor of the Tilley Lamp, Mr Frederick Tilley. The now aptly named 'O'Connell Room' located on the first floor of the hotel, would have acted as the main sitting room to its Georgian owners. The O'Connell Room affords our guests views of O'Connell Street, Ireland's main street & the new Dublin City Spire.

Lynam's is spread across 63-64 O'Connell Street, No 63 was acquired by the Royal Bank in the 1820s as their Dublin Headquarters. In the 1870s the bank further expanded into the adjoining premises. It was at this stage that the ornate Victorian façade was created.
